Charo in SF
The Inside Bay Area web site has another interview with Charo and talks about her new CD being titled "Charo on Guitar" and it is due out in August. Also, next week is Charo Week in SF! Charo also mentions one of the track titles: Picante. She claims that it is "gonna be stronger than 'La Vida Loca'"

New CD
According to an interview for the Plain Dealer in Cleveland, OH her new CD is due out in July. This is hopefully the long rumored new album featuring Bolero. Anyone who attends a Charo Concert this summer be on the lookout - she usually sells the CDs at her show.

Charo on VH-1
TV Barn Ticker and other outlets including Variety are reporting Charo is scheduled to appear in the third season of "The Surreal Life" which premieres on VH-1 on Sunday September 5, 2004.

On the road!
The Feb. 13 Albuquerque Tribune has an interview with Charo. Not much new in the story but it does mention the name of her touring show "Carnivale". Also there has been numerous reports of a single release of Bolero, but nothing official as well as no listing on the usual music sites.

A return to Vegas??
The October 31 Las Vegas Review-Journal says that the Riviera revue "Men, the Show" will close on December 5 and will be replaced by a new Charo show. No details on whether or not the show will be like Bravo or a new variety show - stay tuned!

No home in Vegas anymore
The July29th Las Vegas Review-Journal says Charo has officially given up trying to keep a permanent Vegas home and is not returning to the Sevilla night club. She however is making regular apperarances on Hollywood Squares as well as at various casinos and fairs around the country. Is Charo coming to your area? Let me know!

Charo Around the Country
According to the June 27th Las Vegas Sun, Charo will make an annoucement regarding her future at Sevila on July 8. Personally, I hope she takes enough time to finish her new CD, as well as get her official web site up and running again - hey they can always ask me! (still no announcement as of 9/15! I know Charo is appearing at various fairs around the country)

Charo on the Today Show/CD News
According to the June 13th Las Vegas Sun, Charo will be on the Today Show on the Saturday July 26th weekend edition for an interview and outdoor performance at the Plaza at Rockefeller Center. The Sun also reports that Charo has been spending a lot of time in Los Angeles writing and recording a new CD. (and presumably filming more Hollywood Squares)

Gone from the Strip - for now
It's gone from bad to worse. Charo abruptly closed her Bravo show at the Sevilla Steakhouse after her show on Wed. May 14. She then turned around and sued the owners for breach of contract. You can read full details here, here, and here. I don't know where she will end up back on the strip. It seems out of all the places she worked at, she had the best luck at the Sahara. Hopefully she will turn up on the strip again soon.

Sevilla files for bankruptcy
From the May 2, 2003 The Las Vegas Sun: "Sevilla, the Desert Passage space where Charo performs, quietly filed for bankruptcy last week, joining its host casino, Aladdin, in the financial doldrums. Fortunately, Charo's show will go on. Despite the fact the facility allegedly used her box office take to pay its own bills and not the salaries of her 22 cast members, she will continue. She has so far spent more than $200,000 of her own money paying her cast to keep the show afloat. When she returns from a cruise ship engagement May 8 she will "four wall" the show, meaning that she will rent the space and serve as her own producer." Maybe Charo will get enough business to take over the Aladdin - Kjell and Charo should be able to run a casino.

Bravo 2003
Charo's new show has debuted at the new Sevilla Steakhouse and Nightclub in Aladdin's Desert Passage. The show called Bravo 2003 is as Charo calls it "is more authentic flamenco and is very, very Spanish". You can read the Las Vegas Sun's interview with Charo here. Tickets for the new show are $96, $106, $116 dinner and show; $65, $75, $85 cocktails only. Charo has left the Sahara!!
A quick scan of the Sahara
web site shows that Charo's last performance at the Sahara was December
15. It appears according to this Las
Vegas Sun Article that Charo is moving to a new showroom being built
for her at the Aladdin Hotel Desert Passage. A quick check of the Las
Vegas Review-Journal shows that Charo is scheduled to open January
15, 2003 at the new 35,000 sq. ft. Sevilla Restaurant/Nightclub.

Charo has left the Venetian!!
April 16, 2002 was Charo's last show at the Showroom at the Venetian. She has moved her show Bravo down the strip to the Sahara Hotel and Casino. No word on if the show will be the same as at the Venetian - I will try and get more info. Her first show at the Sahara is scheduled to be May 6, 2002. She will be performing in the 550 seat Conga Room, replacing "The Rat Pack is Back". Ironically, the show replacing Charo is a tribute to Frank Sinatra.
